In many situations Cracks can be caused by poor foundation, by not having a thick enough or too thick of a layer of asphalt, earth movement, extremely heavy vehicles, roots from trees as well as the freeze-thaw cycle every year.

As you can see there are so many factors that can have an impact on an asphalt surface. This is why Asphalt maintenance is important if your wanting to protect your investment.

Crack sealing is used as a first defense against pavement deterioration because it offers several important benefits. Effective crack sealing keeps water from entering and weakening the base or sub-base. It helps preserve the pavement adjacent to the cracks; prevents sand, stone, and dirt from making its way into open cracks causing compressive stresses; and extends pavement life by minimizing crack growth.

Proper attention to cracks will prevent problems from spreading and double the life of the pavement. Pavement repair in the early stages of deterioration will pay big dividends later by delaying costly resurfacing.

Here at D&D Sealcoating we take the extra time to clean and prep all cracks to be filled. Once the cracks are ready to be filled we use an asphalt crack melter to fill the voids, where hot liquid fills and forms to the shape of the crack guaranteeing a perfect seal. DON'T be fooled by imitators who try to paint or fill cracks with a jug as this will not last!
How Is It Applied?
On Residential Driveways: Cracks are blown, swept, and cleaned of any vegetation or sand to at least 1/2in below the surface to ensure adhesion of rubber. Next we use a portable rubber kettle to fill the cracks with 350 degree rubber.

On Roads and Highways we use a heat lance to preheat, clean, burn vegetation from cracks, then we use a Tow Behind Crack Injector to Seal the voids to prevent further water infiltration..
